Appendix 2810. Created; duties.
A planning and community development department is hereby created and established which shall have the following functions and duties:
(a)
To make studies and conduct research regarding the development, implementation and maintenance of the city's general plan;
(b)
To review and investigate zoning matters, to implement and enforce the provisions of the zoning ordinance, and to recommend necessary revisions thereto;
(c)
To administer the subdivision ordinance and the subdivision regulations;
(d)
To enforce the provisions of the Municipal Code that may be assigned by the city manager as areas of responsibility;
(e)
To administer the services provided by the Los Angeles County department of building and safety within the city;
(f)
To administer the services provided by the Los Angeles County engineer within the city;
(g)
To administer the services provided by the Los Angeles County road department within the city;
(h)
To administer the maintenance and operation of all public buildings specifically assigned to the planning and community development department;
(i)
To administer the maintenance and operation of all open space areas and landscaped medians specifically assigned to the planning and community development department;
(j)
To administer streetlighting within the city;
(k)
To administer the maintenance of the city's trees located along public ways;
(l)
To administer the city's housing block grant program and all city council approved activities thereunder;
(m)
To advise the city council, city manager, planning commission, and any other departments, divisions, boards and committees of the city government on planning, community development and housing matters;
(n)
To administer the city's sanitary sewer system;
(o)
To be responsible for such other duties as may be assigned by the city council.
